Itinerary
Day 1 – ROMANTIC ROAD, HARBURG, DINKELSBUHL, ROTHENBURG
Meet your tour director at your hotel or preferred location in Munich.
We take the autobahn west towards Augsburg and then take Bavaria's famous Romantic Road. First stop on the Romantic Road is at the quaint village of Harburg, where you will get a tour through 900 year-old medieval Harburg Castle. Remarkably the castle has never been damaged by war.
Your lunch break today is in Dinkelsbühl, where you can admire another fully fortified town.
We continue to medieval Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Franconia, where you feel like you just jumped back into the 16th century.

Harburg Castle

Dinkelsbühl
Completely surrounded by its medieval ramparts with countless towers, Rothenburg is famous for its ancient houses, fountains, cobbled lanes, hidden corners and street signs.
Also famous for the Meistertrunk, in which – according to legend – the burgomeister saved the town by emptying a 6-pint tankard in one single draught.
After dinner, take a tour with the town's world-famous night-watchman.
Included > Door-to-door transportation, driver-guide, entrance and guide fees and taxes, hotel in Rothenburg

Day 2 – ROTHENBURG, WURZBURG
After breakfast, explore Rothenburg further. Visit the church of St. Jakob or the criminal museum, and enjoy the markets and Christmas stores.
After lunch we take the Romantic Road all the way to where it starts, to Würzburg on the Main River. (The Romantic Road stretches 350 km / 220 miles south to Füssen at the Austrian border. In medieval times it was a trade route that connected the center of Germany with the south.)

Rothenburg

St. Jakob's
Take a guided tour of the Würzburg Residence, a superb baroque palace, one of the biggest in Germany, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The residence was built for the Prince-Bishop of Würzburg between 1720 and 1744, and was dubbed "the nicest parsonage in Europe" by Napoleon. Admire the staircase, the frescoes by Tiepolo, the Hofkirche and the Gardens.
You have time after to see more of Würzburg on your own and stroll along the banks of the Main River.
We return to Rothenburg for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – ULM, AUGSBURG
After a leisurely breakfast this morning we go south on the Autobahn to Ulm, birthplace of Albert Einstein and home of the world's tallest church, the Ulmer Minster, which you will discover from the inside. You may also walk up to the top of the tower, if you wish.
Your next stop today is the beautiful city of Augsburg, where we have reserved a guided tour in the Fuggerei, the oldest social housing complex in the world, with the Fuggerei Museum. The Fuggerei was founded in 1516 by the prosperous Fugger family as a place where the needy citizens of Augsburg could be housed.
We continue to Munich, and arrive late afternoon.
